General

Q: How do I download barZapp to my smartphone?

A: barZapp is available for iOS devices running version 6.1 or greater, and Android devices running OS 2.3.3 or greater. Click on the relevant logo below to download it to your device now!

   

Q: How can I scan more than 10 licenses per day?

A: Once you have downloaded barZapp, you are able to scan 10 licenses per day. If you wish to unlock unlimited scans per day, you must purchase a subscription. You can do this by clicking "Activate barZapp" in the menu on the left, or by clicking the below link:

Q: How do you validate an ID?

A: barZapp comes with Intellicheck Mobilisa’s patented ID Check software that verifies the authenticity of an ID by reading and verifying the format of the information encoded in the bar codes and magnetic stripes on state and provincial driver licenses, identification cards, military and government IDs. It can be used to prevent fines & penalties to merchants who unknowingly sell age-restricted products to underage purchasers.

Billing

Q: I don't have a Credit Card that I can use for purchasing. is there any way to setup invoicing? Can I use a PO?

Q: I do have a credit card but I need a PO referenced for billing? Can I set one up?

Q: I am a tax exempt entity. How do I note that in my order?

Q: Are there any volume discounts?

Q: How do I cancel my subscription?

A: To cancel an account:

1) Browse to the barZapp sales site: https://customerportal.icmobil.com/PartnerPage/barZapp/Login.aspx.

2) Log in with your username and password.

3) Click “Update Subscription”.

4) Click on the “X” next to “Current Plan” to cancel your subscription.

5) Click “Confirm”.

Privacy

Q: What information, if any, is read & stored from the ID? Can I pick and choose fields.

A: Laws vary on the storage and use of scanned driver license data. Please refer to the laws applicable to your state or province before enabling the storage / history feature. By enabling this feature you acknowledge it is legal to do so in your state / province.

The feature to pick which fields are displayed & stored is coming soon.

The below list of fields are read off the ID (and stored, if history logging is enabled):

First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Issue Date, Expiration Date, Issuing Jurisdiction, ID Number

The following information is also gathered in order to determine which sample IDs are displayed to allow users to compare the physical ID against what it should appear like:

Q: What is your privacy policy guidelines? Will my information be used for any marketing - both internally and externally?

Q: What are my options if a person does not want to scan their ID?

A: You have a right to verify their ID, if they refuse, you can turn them away or you can manually look at it.

Smartphone

Q: What types of smartphones does barZapp run on?

A: barZapp is available for iOS devices running version iOS 6.1 or greater, and Android devices running OS 2.3.3 or greater.

Q: Why isn't there a flash toggle?

A: The flash button only appears if the device supports it. For iOS devices, older iPads and iPod Touches do not have a flash.

Q: What do I do when the camera won't focus?

A: Dramatically change the distance between the phone and the ID to have the camera's auto-focus engage. Then slowly bring the card back to where the barcode takes up about 3/4ths of the screen.

Features

Q: Can I manually enter any information and still get a verification?

A: There is no manual entry.

Q: Can I setup a 'Banned Patrons' list?

A: This feature is available in barZapp 2.0 for iOS devices. It is coming soon to Android devices.

Q: Can I create mailing lists?

A: This feature is coming soon. After it is available, you'll need to confirm that it is legal to do so in your state.

Q: Can I mark someone as a VIP?

A: This feature is available in barZapp 2.0 for iOS devices. It is coming soon to Android devices.

Q: How long will it store historical data?

A: Historical data can be stored indefinitely. There is an option to clear or turn off history logging within the app.

Q: Is the historical data stored to a single location? Or will I need to look at the separate devices to find a particular scan?

A: Each device logs its own history. A future update will allow your venue to store history logs in the cloud and be accessible from one central location.

Q: Can a logged in device time out after some amount of time of inactivity?

A: There are no problems with a device timing out. The connection to the server is automatically reestablished when the app is made active again.

Q: Can I export my scan history?

A: This feature is available in barZapp 2.0 for iOS devices. It is coming soon to Android devices.

Q: When will I lose my history?

A: When logging into and out of a venue, by turning history on/off, and by reinstalling the app.

Account Management

Q: Can I lock out a specific device? How?

A: The barZapp management website allows managers to remove devices from their venue. If the owner of the device knows your device password, then you will need to simply change your device password.

Q: My staff rotates. I have 35 employees but only 15-17 work on a particular night. Do I have to buy licenses for each device or can I share? If I can share, how does the sharing work?

A: You only need as many licenses as the number of active devices you are using. When an employee logs in, they can select another device to remove from your venue to take over their license. It is important to give each device a meaningful name (Venue Configuration tab within the app) so that you can quickly and easily find and remove the devices not currently in use.

Q: I have a phone that my bouncers use while on site. The same phone rotates nightly. Can we setup individual logins for shared devices?

A: There are no user logins. There is a device login to attach your device to your account.

Q: When will the results clear?

A: The results will clear after tapping "Leave Screen" or by scanning a new ID.
